Erron Chesterfield was not just our beloved son and brother; he was a beacon of hope for everyone who knew him. Born and raised in the heart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he carried the warmth and resilience of our community in his spirit. His laughter could light up a room, and his determination knew no bounds. As a father, he dreamed of providing the best for his little girl, Jerroni, inspiring him to seek a new life far from the familiarity of home.
In August 2020, with a heart full of dreams and a clear vision for the future, Erron made a bold move to Tampa, Florida. He joined his sister, Errica, who had laid the groundwork for what they hoped would be a fresh start not just for themselves but for his daughter as well. Tampa brought new challenges, but Erron embraced each one with the same vigor and optimism that defined his life. He quickly secured a job and began making connections in the community, each step forward a testament to his resolve.
Just when it seemed like everything was aligning for Erron, fate took a tragic turn. On December 6, 2020, we received the heart-shattering news of Erron’s fatal car crash. At just 27 years old, he was suddenly taken from us, leaving behind dreams unfulfilled and a community in mourning. The impact of his loss resonated deeply with everyone who knew him, prompting us to seek a way to honor his memory and continue his mission.
The Heart of Erron Foundation: A Legacy of Love
Driven by Erron’s love and our profound loss, we established The Heart of Erron Foundation. Our foundation is more than just a tribute; it’s a continuation of Erron’s own aspirations—to provide support and opportunities for those striving to rebuild their lives. We focus on offering housing, resources, and a supportive community to individuals who, like Erron once did, are seeking a new beginning. Each person we help stands as a living memorial to Erron’s kindness and enduring spirit.
Since its inception, the Foundation has grown significantly. We’ve extended our services beyond just housing. We now offer educational programs, job training, and emotional support, all designed to empower our residents to achieve independence and success. Our community outreach programs engage local businesses and volunteers, creating a robust support network that mirrors the one Erron found in Tampa.
